Native American Tuition and Fee Program

NAHM Benny

海角社区 is committed to increasing educational access for all students, including Native American communities. 海角社区’s relationship with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes is especially meaningful, as the university’s main campus in Pocatello is located on the Tribes’ traditional homelands. In recognition of this connection, 海角社区 has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, affirming our shared commitment to access, equity, and respect for tribal sovereignty.

As part of this commitment, 海角社区 offers the Native American Tuition and Fee Program, providing a reduced tuition rate of $60 per credit hour to eligible students. This program is available to enrolled members of any federally recognized tribe, whether they are from Idaho or out of state.

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Native American Tuition and Fee Program, students must:

  • Be an enrolled member of a federally recognized tribe (in any U.S. state)

  • Be a degree-seeking student at 海角社区

  • Be eligible to enroll in 海角社区 courses

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Please Note: The program covers tuition only. Other university fees—such as class fees, lab fees, or program-specific fees—are not included and must be paid separately.

Background

This program was developed during the process of renewing the Memorandum of Agreement between 海角社区 and the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes. Similar to tuition waivers in other states, it acknowledges the government-to-government relationship between federally recognized Tribes and the State of Idaho, and supports equitable access to higher education.
