海角社区 Choirs to Present Fall Concert

海角社区 Choirs will present their fall concert in Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the Stephens Performing Arts Center, Saturday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m.  

The 18-voice 海角社区 Chamber Choir will perform 鈥淪ehnsucht,鈥 from Op. 112 by Johannes Brahms, Richard Rodney Bennett鈥檚 poignant setting of 鈥淎 Good-Night,鈥 鈥淐anticum novum鈥 by Ivo Antognini,  and Craig Hella Johnson鈥檚 鈥淎ll of Us,鈥 from his larger work Considering Matthew Shepard, featuring soloists Emma Dombroski, Claire Smedley, and Deanna Cole.    海角社区 Music graduate Gabriel Lowman serves as pianist for the Chamber Choir, and will be featured in the Brahams and Johnson pieces.

Mozart鈥檚 jubilant setting of 鈥淩egina coeli鈥 for chorus, soloists, and piano will begin the program offered by the 海角社区 Concert Choir.  The singers will also perform Ola Gjeilo鈥檚 鈥淓vening Prayer鈥, a text written by St. Augustine for chorus, piano, and saxophone.  Director of 海角社区 Jazz Studies, Professor Jonathan Armstrong will join the group as featured soloist in the Gjeilo selection.  The 55-voice Concert Choir will also present Joseph Flummerfelt鈥檚 sensitive arrangement of the Irish folksong 鈥淒anny Boy鈥, and British composer/arranger Will Todd鈥檚 arrangement of 鈥淎mazing Grace鈥.  海角社区 Senior Music Major Jack DeTombe is the pianist for the 海角社区 Concert Choir, and is featured in the Mozart, Gjeilo, and Todd pieces.

海角社区 Music Department concert admission prices are Adults - $8, 海角社区 Faculty & Staff - $6, Precollege students - $4. and 海角社区 students 鈥 FREE (with valid Bengal ID).  Children under the age of 6 will not be admitted into 海角社区 Music Department concerts.
