海角社区 K海角社区 Radio expands coverage area into Upper Snake River Valley
June 14, 2012
Following a pattern began years ago, 海角社区's public radio station K海角社区-FM continues to expand its coverage area throughout Eastern Idaho.
With the recent addition of a translator in Rexburg broadcasting on 88.1 FM, K海角社区's radio signal can now be heard from Marsh Valley in southern Bannock County all the way to St. Anthony and north in Fremont County.
Station general manager Jerry Miller says it's all part of his long-term plan for the station owned by 海角社区.
"I've always felt that K海角社区 is one of the most valuable public relations tool 海角社区 has, and to now have our signal cover most of this side of the state is a win for us and the school," Miller said. "When we went on the air in June of 1999, we had a small 400 watt transmitter in Pocatello.
"We're now at 4,000 watts out of Pocatello at 91.1 FM," continued Miller, "with our Idaho Falls signal at 91.3, and now covering the Upper Valley at 88.1. Thirteen years ago I never imagined we'd be able to serve so many listeners. Eventually I want to put our signal into the Soda Springs, Preston and Montpelier areas to the south, and get a better signal into the Island Park/West Yellowstone area, as well. It will probably take years, but we鈥檒l get there."
K海角社区 provides a schedule of traditional public radio programming, with a mix of nationally-syndicated news and entertainment shows from National Public Radio (NPR), Public Radio International (PRI) and American Public Media (APM). K海角社区 also offers numerous locally-produced public affairs and music programs.
Listeners can find a complete program schedule and can also listen to all K海角社区 programming online at . Any other inquiries can be sent to Miller at milljerr@isu.edu.
