National HIV Testing Day is Wednesday, June 27, and 海角社区-Meridian will offer free, rapid HIV tests to faculty, staff and students. The message is "Take the Test, Take Control," according to organizers. 

The confidential test is performed orally and doesn鈥檛 require a blood draw. Results are available within 20 minutes. Call Judy Thorne, 海角社区-Meridian's HIV education coordinator at 208-373-1710 to schedule an appointment.

Nearly 1.2 million people are living with HIV鈥攖he AIDS virus鈥攊n the U.S., and almost one in five don鈥檛 know they are infected.

Various national and local organizations, including the National Association of People With AIDS, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and AIDS.gov, organized National HIV Testing Day in response to the growing number of HIV infections in heavily impacted communities, according to Thorne.
