Lauralee Zimmerly, associate dance lecturer at 海角社区, was selected as the 2009 Idaho Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance鈥檚 (IAHPERD) Outstanding Dance Educator of the Year.

Awarded annually, IAHPERD recognizes an exemplary teacher/educator in the areas of physical education, health, dance or sport. Zimmerly was honored because of her creative teaching methods, balanced curriculum, promotion and understanding of dance as an integral culture as well as serving as a positive role model for her students.

 Her commitment is evident as Zimmerly shares her creative work throughout Idaho and is an active participant in local, state and national dance organizations.

 鈥淚 am thrilled to be working in the dance program at  海角社区 and with other dance educators across the state of Idaho to focus on our statewide visions and goals regarding movement and dance for the citizenry of Idaho,鈥� Zimmerly said. 鈥淚 am pleased to be recognized by my dance colleagues for doing my small part.鈥�

Zimmerly will represent 海角社区 at the annual conference this fall in Moscow.  In addition, she will share her talents and present a dance workshop at the conference.
