The 48-voice 海角社区 Concert Choir will combine with the Idaho Falls Chamber Orchestra for a performance of the complete 鈥淢essiah鈥 by G. F. Handel at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, at 海角社区.

The performance will take place in the Joseph C. and Cheryl H. Jensen Grand Concert Hall in the L.E. and Thelma E. Stephens Performing Arts Center.

The Idaho Falls Chamber Orchestra is under the direction of Dr. George Adams.

The performance will feature 海角社区 music faculty, including Diana Livingston Friedley, Ph.D., soprano soloist, and Geoffrey Friedley, tenor as soloist. 海角社区 alumna Laurel Pumphrey will perform the alto solos during the performance. Scott Anderson, Ph.D., 海角社区 director of choral activities, has prepared the Concert Choir.

鈥淭his unique presentation will offer 鈥楳essiah鈥 in the manner one might have heard in the 18th century,鈥 Anderson said. 鈥(with) smaller instrumental and choral forces, soloists displaying improvisatory performance practices, and tempos reflective of the style performed by Handel himself.鈥

Tickets are available online at www.isu.edu/tickets, or call the Stephens Center Box Office at (208) 282-3595.

Ticket prices for this special event are: $25 for adults, $15 for 海角社区 faculty/staff, $10 for precollege students and free for 海角社区 students with valid Bengal cards.
