Gender and religious issues will be the subject of a free public presentation at 海角社区 on Oct. 18 at noon in the Heritage Room of the 海角社区 Pond Student Union Building.

The Reverend Anne Beatty will present 鈥淲hy I Didn鈥檛 Become the Minister鈥檚 Wife.鈥 Beatty鈥檚 talk is part of the sixth annual Every Other Thursday Brown Bag Lecture Series: Gender and Religion, presented by the Janet C. Anderson Gender Resource Center.

Beatty has been an Episcopal priest for 14 years, and a rector for the last five, at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Pocatello.

The Every Other Thursday series spotlights gender-related research conducted by 海角社区 faculty, staff, students and, occasionally, Pocatello community members. The lectures are an opportunity for 海角社区 and Pocatello community members to join the ongoing dialogue on a variety of gender issues.

Other scheduled talks will include:

鈥    鈥淕ender and Wicca鈥 presented by Claudia McCoy, assistant director of the 海角社区 Women鈥檚 Studies program, on Oct. 31 in the Heritage Room of the PSUB. This will be the only talk scheduled for Wednesday. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes.

鈥    鈥淕ender and Jehovah鈥檚 Witnesses鈥 presented by Dee Adair on Nov. 15 in the Heritage Room of the PSUB.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lunches. All lectures are open to the public and free of charge. For more information on the lecture series contact the Anderson Center at (208) 282-2805.
