海角社区 Department of Counseling Program Takes National Honor and Expands Ph.D. Program to Treasure Valley
Boise-For the third time since 1985, the 海角社区 Department of Counseling has won the Robert Frank Outstanding Counseling Education Program Award.
The counseling program was selected from university programs nominated from throughout the country. 海角社区 was selected by the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, a division of the American Counseling Association. Counseling faculty and staff were formally honored March 29 at the A.C.A. annual convention in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The annual award is named in memory of University of Northern Iowa Professor Robert Frank for his outstanding contributions to the field of counselor education. The honor recognizes innovations in education, supervision and clinical work. The 海角社区 program was specifically cited for its mentoring of students, particularly at the doctoral level.
"It's often difficult for small universities to receive national recognition. We are thrilled to receive this prestigious national honor," said Department of Counseling Chair Stephen Feit.
海角社区's program has nine faculty members -- including two professors at 海角社区-Boise. In fall 2008, 海角社区-Boise will offer the PH.D. in Counselor Education and Counseling.
