International Student Voices: Sharon Premkumar from Canada

Sharon Premkumar, a third-year Ph.D. student from Canada, chose 海角社区 for its unique English and Teaching of English program, finding it the perfect fit for her academic and professional aspirations.

My name is Sharon Premkumar. I am a third-year Ph.D. student at 海角社区. I obtained both my HBA and MA in Canada; in other words, I am Canadian. The reason I chose 海角社区 to pursue my higher education is because 海角社区 is one of select universities that offer a Ph.D. in English and the Teaching of English. I felt that it was the perfect fit for my academic and professional goals as I aspire to become an English professor. 

My experience within the English program at 海角社区 thus far has been nothing short of wonderful. All of the faculty members have been incredibly kind, supportive, and professional. Being incredibly knowledgeable in their individual fields of expertise, they continue to share their wisdom as well as pass on their passion to future generations. Furthermore, the student body at 海角社区 is like none other. Everyone is incredibly welcoming. 

The overall academic experience that you gain from such an exceptional institution and program is truly irreplaceable. 海角社区 offers endless research opportunities, internships, and unique programs. 

My advice for incoming international students who are considering studying English at 海角社区…do it!
